Some people are born to celebrate.
Elaina was literally born on Christmas Day—so creating beautiful treats for celebrations almost feels like it was written into her story from the very beginning.

A Covington native, Elaina grew up in a family where the kitchen was always a place of creativity, comfort, and connection. From homemade breads to cupcakes and family meals, she has always loved cooking and baking for the people around her.
Over the years, one small dessert captured her heart in a special way: cake pops.
When her mom owned a coffee shop years ago, cake pops were one of the treats they sold, and Elaina quickly became their biggest fan. She loved everything about them — the creativity, the decorations, and the idea that something small could feel so special.

That love for small, joyful treats eventually became the inspiration behind Cottage & Crumb.
Baking Through Life’s Challenges
Like many people, Elaina’s relationship with food changed when she began dealing with health challenges related to Hashimoto’s and PCOS, which brought dietary restrictions that made enjoying everyday treats much more complicated.
Suddenly, foods that once felt simple — cupcakes at school, pizza with friends, or desserts at celebrations — often meant feeling left out.
Instead of giving up the foods she loved, Elaina did what she has always done best: she started experimenting in the kitchen.

What started as problem-solving soon became something deeper.
When Elaina is baking, the anxiety that often comes with chronic health conditions fades into the background. Baking becomes both science and art — measuring, testing, decorating, and creating something beautiful from simple ingredients.

Elaina has always believed that celebrations should include everyone.

Growing up, she watched her younger sister struggle with food sensitivities that often meant sitting out during moments that were meant to feel fun.

Later, when Elaina faced dietary restrictions herself, she understood that feeling even more deeply.

No one should have to sit at a table and feel like the only person who can’t participate.

Cottage & Crumb was built around the idea of what Elaina calls “Indistinguishable Joy.”

A Lemon Flavor With a Special Story
One of Elaina’s favorite flavors on the menu is the gluten-free lemon cake pop, and it comes with a story.

One day her dad decided he wanted to make something sweet that she could enjoy without worrying about ingredients. He took a gluten-free vanilla cake mix from the pantry, added fresh lemon zest, and finished it with lemon frosting.
​
Those lemon cupcakes became a favorite.

Today, the lemon cake pop remains one of Elaina’s favorites because it reminds her of the care and creativity her family showed when helping her rediscover the joy of dessert.
